This is a timeline of the first phase of a Hynds Foundation Project to transform places within the Gillies MetalTech Foundry site. Our vision is that new experiences and opportunities can be offered to artists and visitors, in collaboration with our team.
May 2024
Transformation begins within the foundry’s Pattern Shop – to create studios for the inaugural Crucible Artist Residents who will create in collaboration with our foundry.
July 2024
Extension of the Crucible Gallery spaces – to broaden options for exhibitions and events. We are open to, and curious for, what comes next.
12.9.24
Spaces spring to life! 12.9.24 is the date of our first event and exhibition – to welcome the inaugural artists in residence, and present stories of foundry men and machinery, who have been crafting on the site in the Historic Precinct since 1924. (Photographer: Richard Scott)
Our Crucible Gallery spaces may be available for use by the community. Please email sales@gilliesmetaltech.co.nz for information.
